Marketing Edinburgh welcomes Gleneagles Hotel to membership

Published: 11 October 2016

Convention Edinburgh’s Marketing Edinburgh, the official promotions agency for the city of Edinburgh, is delighted to welcome new partners to the membership. These include the luxury five star Gleneagles Hotel, which is the first member to join from out with the Edinburgh and Lothians region.

Gleneales’ Hotel new partnership enables the hotel to have great access to Marketing Edinburgh’s leisure and business tourism contacts and digital channels. Gleneagles’ decision to join membership also reflects a growing range in Marketing Edinburgh’s membership profile. These include over 220 businesses now in membership, with other recent organisations to join Marketing Edinburgh include Kinross House Estate, as well as restaurants, bars and shops such as Kyloe, Jeffrey Street Whisky, Foundry 39 bar and The East India Company. Marketing Edinburgh will also look forward to welcome Edinburgh’s new Courtyard by Marriot when it opens its doors in mid-December.

Hillary Bett, Head of Membership Services at Marketing Edinburgh explained:

We are thrilled to have Gleneagles join us as our first official Perthshire member. While our Edinburgh-based membership is obviously hugely important, as the gateway to Scotland, venues outside the city are also beginning to realise that they too can benefit from a closer working relationship with Marketing Edinburgh.

Both Marketing Edinburgh’s consumer facing ‘This is Edinburgh’ website and social channels, which has a reach of over 410,000 unique users and Convention Edinburgh’s business tourism network allows its members a unique opportunity to raise awareness and promote their venues to new, relevant audiences that they would not necessarily be able to reach.

The rise in new members from sectors such as food and drink, also reflect the changing dynamic of Marketing Edinburgh’s membership. The success of Edinburgh Rewards, a unique programme of exclusive offers available to delegates, for example, has been incredibly popular with the city’s restaurant and bars, encouraging visitors attending conferences and meetings to get out and explore all Edinburgh has to offer.”

Val Eglinton, Director of Sales at Gleneagles Hotel said:

Gleneagles is thrilled to join Marketing Edinburgh as its first partner from out with the Edinburgh and Lothians region. Only one hour’s drive from Scotland’s beautiful capital, we offer an unrivalled array of country pursuits, perfect for team-building & incentives. We are ideally placed to host pre & post events and individual extensions.

“Our ongoing refurbishment programme is creating vibrant and dynamic meeting areas, making now the perfect time for Gleneagles to partner with Marketing Edinburgh.”

Edinburgh is the most popular UK city for international association meetings outside London, and the city’s recognition as a business tourism destination continues to grow every year. 2014-15 was Convention Edinburgh’s most successful year on record, confirming 206 new future events for Edinburgh, which will be attended by over 74,000 delegates and generate £94.3 million for the local economy.  That’s an increase of almost 10,000 more delegates and £3million economic impact on last year’s results.
