Ahead of IMEX Frankfurt during an ICCA Member Plenary Session on 15 May, ICCA has announced, a new partnership with BestCities Global Alliance to bring the ICCA Incredible Impacts Programme, which looks to celebrate the "beyond tourism" value of international association meetings.

Convention Edinburgh and is a founder partner of the BestCities Global Alliance, recognising the world's most innovative convention cities. This network gives Convention Edinburgh access to unique data and event research from our city partners to assist our Ambassadors and meeting planners to create innovative bid proposals and win bids.

As an active member of ICCA, Convention Edinburgh has access to unrivalled data, communication channels, and business development opportunities.

Through their Incredible Impacts Grants, ICCA and BestCities Global Alliance aims to reward international association meetings that has shown to support positive societal impacts as well as  encouraging them to communicate the true value of their meetings.

In order to apply for the grant, associations must show a track-record in a “beyond tourism” or legacy programme or project related to their international meetings. The association would also need to clarify how they would use the grant to support, expand, extend or enhance their chosen programme or a future project.

Examples of beyond tourism impacts or legacy include:

  • Knowledge and/or skills transfers to developing countries.
  • Public awareness of healthcare or environmental issues, or achievement of improved outcomes.
  • Positive impact on national and regional policies and practices.
  • Advancing future intellectual and/or societal leaders (could be general young members of the association, or young women, or young people from developing countries, etc).

An independent jury will decide which three associations will be awarded a grant of US$7,500 each. The winners of each year’s grants will be announced at the ICCA Congress in 2017, 2018 and 2019.
