Coming soon to Edinburgh

Edinburgh is a truly dynamic city and one of the most popular destinations in the world for meeting planners and associations. New buildings and facilities are coming on stream all the time.

The W Hotel 

Starwood Hotels & Resorts is set to take its W Hotels brand to Edinburgh’s city centre with a proposed open date of 2021. 

Part of the redevelopment of the St James shopping centre, the hotel will be the focal point of the 160,000sqm city centre development which will include retail, entertainment and leisure facilities, as well as residential apartments.

Included in the hotel development is 200 bedrooms, with 20 suites and the W brand’s signature ’Extreme Wow Suite’. Guests can look forward to enjoying facilities such as a luxury spa and gym centre. For dining, expect to find a fine dining restaurantwhich will sit along their rooftop destination bar and will include an outdoor terrace overlooking the city skyline. For meeting and events the hotel will also feature a 230sqm space for all groups' needs.

Courtyard Marriott Edinburgh

A new Marriott International is set to open their 240 luxury bedroom hotel in Edinburgh for autumn 2016. Located near Edinburgh's Playhouse and St James Centre developments, the four star hotel offers the combination of both heritage and style for both business and leisure travellers in mind. 

The hotel will feature a boardroom that can take 10-12 delegates, while the Lantern Bar & Restaurant can accommodate private dinning for 10-16 people. Guests to the hotel can also make use of their fitness centre and free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel. 

With its location in the heart of the Edinburgh’s shopping and entertainment hub, the hotel is conveniently located to Edinburgh’s tram line and is within easy reach to many Edinburgh attractions such as Calton Hill and Princes Street.

National Galleries of Scotland

The Scottish National Gallery of Scotland has recently been granted funding by Heritage Lottery Fund which support refurbishment that will be start from January 2017 and completed by Summer 2018. The £16.8m extension will radically improve access to the Scottish National Gallery’s world-class collection of Scottish art.

Included in the refurbishment will be a new entertaining space which will be available for events, so watch this space and we will keep you updated. The Scottish Cafe & Restaurant and the Scottish National Gallery will remain open throughout the refurbishment for visitors. However evening events will be restricted for the Scottish National Gallery and daytime lectures in the Hawthornden Lecture Theatre for the duration of the build.  

If you are looking to host evening events, there are options available with The Scottish Cafe & Restaurant which can accommodate 240 for a banquet and 300 for a reception. The Scottish National Portrait Gallery which can accommodate 120 for a banquet and 250 for a reception and the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art which can accommodate between 20-50 for a banquet and up to 100 for a reception.
