We will welcome two fam trips into the city and attend one of the leading business events trade shows in Frankfurt. In addition, we have a host of membership events coming up in the city for our members to attend – come along for a cuppa, network and learn how to make the most of your membership.

'Accommodation and Booking Service'

We have a brand new event which has been developed especially for revenue and bedroom allocation reservation teams, launching on Friday 27 April.  ‘The Accommodation Booking Service’ event will be a regular event going forward, designed to bring members up to date on contracted conferences and bids coming to Edinburgh. Come along to further develop your knowledge of future business events to help you to manage your allocations – as well as building relationships with our lovely Accommodation Team.

For our membership events, we encourage you to note your interest prior to the event. Reminders will be sent to encourage you to participate and get involved in upcoming activities. The Events Calendar has been posted on the Extranet and can be downloaded at any time – here you will find the key contact for each project.

Business Tourism Activity

VisitBritain's Meet GB

On Monday 16 April, VisitBritain’s MeetGB event is bringing 10 MICE buyers from Europe & North America into the city for a 24-hour flying visit. VisitScotland will then take the buyers to Perthshire and then on to the MeetGB workshop in London. As you know, this is the city’s time to shine – here’s hoping the weather plays ball! We will be putting our best foot forward in an effort to attract their next business event to Edinburgh.

Global Cynergies'

From Friday 11 to Sunday 13 May, we are very excited to be hosting Global Cynergies' annual meeting and associated fam trip. Global Cynergies is one of the fastest growing hotel and venue sourcing companies in the global MICE market today. In advance of IMEX, 44 team members from across their global network are meeting in the capital for three days of meetings, show rounds, networking dinners and activities. Amanda Ferguson, Head of Business Tourism, said:

I am particularly delighted to welcome this group of influential global buyers into Edinburgh.  Not only will they experience Edinburgh as their delegates do, we will also be showcasing our venues, hotels and hospitality. A key focus of the trip is education so they can promote Edinburgh to their vast client base.

IMEX Frankfurt

Convention Edinburgh is then heading out to IMEX in Frankfurt on Tuesday 15 to Thursday 17 May. Amanda Ferguson and Elaine Miller will fly the flag for the city carrying out 1:2:1 appointments with MICE and Association buyers as well as delivering various presentations, engaging with press and attending networking events. If you have clients attending this global show but won’t be attending yourselves, we’d be delighted to meet them on your behalf to give them general information on the city and treat them to our famous Scottish hospitality.

National Association Sales Trip

Hannah Shaw, the team’s Association Sales Executive, will be going to London from Monday 25 to Wednesday 27 June for a National Association Sales Trip. Hannah has sent a questionnaire to members– if you are interested in accompanying her on a London Association sales trip, please fill out the Survey Monkey questionnaire in Hannah’s email or click here to register your interest by Friday 6 April 2018.
